I wish…why can’t we…I just don’t understand.
Maybe I’ve spent too much time online lately. Maybe I have too many differing opinions in family/friends.
I don’t know how anyone who is a leader of a mass of any humans does it without losing their minds. I don’t understand humans.
I don’t understand how using the same tactics as your “enemy” is the right thing to do.
I don’t understand labeling someone because they are gay, black, white, immigrant, or rich with some idea that you were handed and you never challenged.
CHALLENGE IT. Challenge ALL of it. A good moral, a good idea, a key piece of knowledge will stand up to the criticism. Every time.
I wish we could put our defendants on trial in a situation where they cannot be seen. We know them as Defendant 1, or by some non gender, religion, or race specific title. They should be determined to be mentally sound enough to know right from wrong. If they do, and they did the thing – guilty. If the state cannot prove that this accused human did a thing – then not guilty.
I wish we could stop looking at white people as racists, stop declaring that dads and men are stupid, that gays have any other agenda other than to live a decent life (same as the rest of us) and that people would stop denying that ‘ism’s exist.
Racism exists. Anytime you hate, dislike, distrust, or detest a person due to their race – You.Are.A.Racist. Anytime.
White privilege also exists – though it’s not just a white thing. Other races enjoy the privilege of not being seen as a negative stereotype and having doors open easier for them. That’s just privilege.
Allowing people to be our leaders who vilify whole swaths of races, demean women who aren’t beautiful and slender just saddens me to my core and tells me that while our previous leader may not have done what you wanted and never demeaned or insulted people, that folks who utterly hated him are more unhappy with our country than ever. To put our PEOTUS in the office is just a sign that we are a broken nation and this is the last-ditch effort to fix it.
I am fearful for my children growing up in a world where it’s ok to have a Black Student Union, a Chinese American Student Union, a South Asian Student Union, an Iranian Student Union – but the White Student Union is told, no. Because you’re white people, you are racist. This is wrong. Let them have the union. Agree with them or not, you can’t give all those other people recognition and not this one. It CREATES MORE RACISTS by perpetuating this idea non whites hate white people.
I fear for my children growing up in a world where the majority of our peers legitimately think that Islam is a more violent religion than Christianity. That you need to align with your “race” to find others like you.
We are living in the shadow of the Tower of Babel. No one is speaking to each other.
